• A Merchant of Record (MoR) is a legal entity that sells goods or services to end customers on behalf of a merchant. MoRs are authorised and held liable by a financial institution (e.g., an acquiring bank) to process a consumer’s credit and debit card transactions.
   

• ​A Seller of Record (SoR) is referred to as the seller of a product or service to end consumers. A brand or manufacturer grants an SoR the legal right to identify as the original seller and sell goods under their name. It should be noted that MoRs do not assume the identity of the business selling the product but act as a third party.
